United States Naval Academy (Navy) Commit
—————————————————
My name is Julien King and I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you in person. Until then, I would like to take this moment to introduce myself.
I am an individual who has been shaped by the influence of my close-knit family, my faith in God, and my desire to be excellent in everything that I attempt in my life. My family has afforded me the opportunity to experience and learn so many things about myself as a student, a basketball player and as a young man developing and working toward achieving my life’s goals. From the time that I started watching basketball at 3 years old until now, my family’s support, influence and encouragement has afforded me so many opportunities to learn so much about myself and about the game that I love to play.
First, I have learned the importance of academics. It is a dream for me to play basketball at the collegiate level and a goal to obtain both a Bachelor's degree and Master of Business Administration degree in Sports Marketing, while doing so. I am currently an honor student with a 3.98 GPA so being able to balance sports and academics is a role that I am used to managing successfully. I am no stranger to hard work, setting goals, and achieving positive outcomes. Most important, I understand and value the importance of being a successful student. I have been an honor roll student each reporting period of my high school career and it is my goal to continue that streak through graduation and into my college career.
Second, I have learned the importance leadership, character and integrity. I am a positive influence in the locker room and I am a role model outside of it. I believe that I am the type of leader who can and will be instrumental in creating a team first environment. I believe in the importance of having a great team philosophy and establishing a team culture that everyone can buy into. But more important, I believe in establishing a winning culture. The drive to win should be integrated in every aspect of the teams culture and philosophy. In addition, I am an honest, hard-working player who is extremely coachable. I am sure that you will find each of these attributes to be valuable assets for your team.
Finally, I feel that I am different than other recruits because I operate from the core belief that my goal is to make a difference in this world. Without commitment, hard work, integrity, focus, drive, faith, and determination, an individual can’t be successful in any facet of their life. Therefore, I understand the importance of not only having an awareness of these qualities, but also in embodying them in every aspect of my life and with every goal that I pursue. I hold myself to the highest of standards and I strive to live up to that standard each day. Ultimately, I am committed to becoming the best person that I can be which will absolutely translate into being the best player/teammate and influence that I can be.
In conclusion, I would like to thank you for allowing me to give you a brief overview into the type of person, player and young man that I am and the things that set me apart. I am looking a school that is strong in both academics and athletics, in which I can be successful and make immediate contributions to the program , the school and community. I look forward to exploring the opportunity of making my dream to play basketball on the collegiate level and the goal of obtaining my degrees in Sports Marketing a reality.
