Personal Statement

Winning Orthodox Youth Athletic Association (OYAA-Detroit) league championship in 2019 was the highlight of my basketball career. However, I feel I grew the most as a student-athlete in 2019/2020 season when our league/season was cut short due to the pandemic. Moving to the new team (Intermediate Boys Team) in OYAA-Detroit league in 2019/2020 season, and cancellation of the season in March of 2020 helped me grow as a person and lead me to re-focus my own efforts on becoming a solid player capable of playing at the college level.

I was fortunate enough to be part of an amazing league, winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in OYAA-Detroit league in my three years of playing. The cancellation of the 2019/2020 season and other sporting programs motivated me to train harder, longer and more efficient. I learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, hard work, determination and persistence the year our season was terminated, and social distancing implemented. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a two-sport athlete, one time most improved player, and one time most dedicated player, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team!

2020 Windsor Serbs Gracanica Basketball-Intermediate Boys (Orthodox Youth Athletic Association-Detroit)
The 2019/2020 OYAA-Detroit league was canceled in March of 2020. We did not play our last game scheduled for March 15, 2020 . Our standing at the end of the canceled season is 3rd place.
2019 Windsor Serbs Gracanica Basketball Junior Boys (Orthodox Youth Athletic Association- Detroit)
The 2018-2019 season, Windsor Serbs Gracanica Basketball Junior Boys team won first place in the OYAA-Detroit. We played 10 games and won every single one. At the end of the 2018-2019 season, I received the Most Dedicated Player award from my team coaches and players.
2018 Windsor Serbs Gracanica Basketball Junior Boys (Orthodox Youth Athletic Association-Detroit)
The 2017-2018 season was my rookie season with the Windsor Serbs Gracanica Basketball Junior Boys team. We won 2nd place in the OYAA-Detroit league . We played 9 of 10 games and won 8 of 9 games played. At the end of the 2017-2018 season, I received the Most Improved Player award from my team coaches and players.

We worked on developing all fundamental basketball skills - shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding and defense. In addition, we had the opportunity to work on the mental aspects through conditioning, video review and skill challenges. I received an award for "Speed" at the end of the camp. The Pan Orthodox Tournament
3/15/19 to 3/17/19
The Pan Orthodox Tournament has been held every year since 1968 in mid-March, and sees 65-75 Orthodox teams from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Ontario, Wisconsin and other states compete in the 3-day weekend event. Each division has winner's bracket and a consolation bracket, and all teams are guaranteed a minimum of 2 games. Awards are given to each division's Champion, Runner-Up and Consolation Champion, and an All-Tournament Team in all divisions, except for the Biddys. The 2019 Pan Orthodox Tournament was another big success.
