Athletics have played a major role in my life for as long as I can remember. Both my parents were athletes - my mom played Division I college basketball - and I have made so many friends and memories playing sports.
For most of my life, I have played both soccer and basketball, including playing soccer on a premier-level regional team and making the Olympic Developmental Program state team several years ago. Ever since I was in grade school, I have tried to balance both sports, but I eventually decided that basketball is the sport I love most and the one I wanted to play in college. However, I think my background in soccer, including currently as a varsity starter, where you're only one of eleven players instead of five, has helped me to see the importance of being willing to play your role on a team in order to help that team succeed.
I am hoping to play basketball at a program that will value what I can bring to that team with my athleticism, willingness to work hard, and ability to be a leader. I would like to eventually become a teacher or coach so that I can help other athletes in the same way many of my coaches have helped me to become a better player and person.
