I first started playing basketball in 4th grade. At first, basketball was my secondary sport, to baseball. But, as time progressed, my passion for basketball kept expanding, and I began going with my Stepdad to his team's basketball practices, doing ball handling before a lot of their practices & participating in drills. Then, going into 5th & 6th grade, we got a basketball hoop in our driveway, and I became more serious about wanting to improve. When 7th grade started, basketball was easily my #1 sport, replacing baseball, and I became even more serious. I would do ball handling in my basement & do it multiple days a week, shoot outside for countless hours, and do basketball workouts with my Dad and Stepdad. All the hard work paid off when my team won State in the WYBL B+ league.
My high school career has been a great learning experience so far. My Freshman and Sophomore years allowed me to learn about Varsity basketball and see what it takes to be successful. I had a good Junior season individually, as my game and understanding grew, even though our team didn't win as much as we would have liked. I plan on working hard on my game this summer, in AAU and workouts, preparing for my Senior season. When next season starts, I know the three years I have spent on Varsity and the work I have done will have prepared me for a bigger leadership role and I am looking forward to a successful season as a team.
Overall, while I have come a long way from where I began back in 4th grade, I am going to continue to work hard because I know I have a long way to go from where I want to be. If you need someone in your program willing to work hard, who loves the game and loves to compete, I would be excited to talk with you.
