Michael Boothman Personal Statement
I started training at Ohio State Diving Club in 2017. Prior to diving, I was a trampoline and tumbling gymnast. While a gymnast, I was named to the USA Gymnastics Trampoline and Tumbling National Jumpstart Team and won 2 event National Championships . While on the Jumpstart National team, I was invited to train at USAG facilities at Karolyi Ranch near Houston. My training at Ohio State has helped me improve as a diver and I feel that I have a lot of room to continue improving in the future.
Academically, I am interested in engineering or science and currently volunteer at the Electroscience Lab at The Ohio State University. I am also working on starting a company, DD Sports, that uses sensor data to improve sports performance and monitor injuries. I was invited to work with Rev1 Ventures, a local startup incubator in Columbus, to see if DD Sports can be formed into an investable company.
I am interested in diving at a school that understands that academics is first priority and that has a very supportive team community.
