STATUS UPDATE: Sophomore at University of the Southwest looking to transfer to D1 or D2 University for the Fall 2024 season. My current scoring average after the Fall 2023 season is 74.11 and I am positioned as the #1 on the team. I am looking to continue to improve and compete at a higher level. I will bring a work-by-example attitude and a drive to get better every day. My goal is to continue with my Golfing career after University and turn professional. Also, since USW is in the NAIA, I have FULL NCAA eligibility remaining.
Living in Canada and dealing with 7-8 months of cold and snow, my outdoor golf season is short. This has taught me to be highly disciplined and to set goals, especially for my extended "off" season. My off course work ethic is second to none and I know I can be an anchor for any team. I am known for my calm demeanor and hard-work. I enjoy practicing and working on my game. My short game and putting are my strong elements of my game. If passion, character and willing to work to improve, is what a coach is looking for, then I am your man. I am lucky to have a great training facility in my garage, including a large hitting area and simulator. This keeps me motivated and focused, providing me with a good measuring stick to work on my game. We also have a golf green in our backyard to practice putting and my short game during the summer months.
I am also volunteer coach with Special Olympics (Golf and Torch Run) and MotionBall. My Sister, Madison, has Special Needs and I work with her on the Edmonton Special Olympics Golf Team. She is a Provincial Golfer and we train/workout together. Thank You, Kennedy
**UPDATE**: Due to COVID 19, traveling and tournament restrictions, I have decided to take a Gap Year after my 2020/21 academic graduation year.
I am currently a Freshman at The University of the Southwest in New Mexico. I had committed to the school before the team’s accident and was the only person out of 4 recruits to honor their commitment. I knew it would be difficult but wanted to provide some leadership to rebuild their Golf Program. I have enjoyed my experience and besides leading the golf team, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA . You learn a lot about yourself in a difficult situation and have not regretted my decision. I do want to keep building on my golf career and look forward to improving both as a golfer and a person. USW has provided me the opportunity to play and work on my game. I do look forward to future opportunities in a D1 or D2 program. Thank you and if you need any further information or updates please do not hesitate to contact me. https://uswathletics.com/sports/mens-golf/roster/kennedy-bailey-borges/3574
