Josh Lurie '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Josh Lurie and I am a 6’-0”, 155 pound Varsity golfer at Silver Creek High School in Longmont, Colorado.  I am entering my fourth varsity year for my high school team and was recently honored with Academic All State First Team, and for the high school season I earned First Team All Conference, First Team All Region, and Honorable Mention All State.  Last seasons stats include a 73 Scoring Average, almost 10 shots better than the previous year, and an index of 2.2 verified by CHSAA supported by iWR, and finally I finished the season with a total of 2 wins.  As far as academics I am currently in the top 5% of my class with a 4.284 GPA.

I found my love of golf later than most kids working to get to Division 1 athletics; spending most of my childhood playing competitive Baseball (travel club), Soccer (travel club), Basketball (Club and currently High School Varsity) and eventually in 9th grade started golf.  I am working hard to play catch up against the kids who have been playing competitive golf since early childhood, but within my short tenure, I have pulled my handicap down to a 2.2 and finished 21st in the Colorado state tournament last year.  I feel strongly with my work ethic and the right coaching I will only continue to improve.

Golf is a sport of patience, honesty and perseverance.  I believe that having emotional balance on the course allows me to analyze each shot so that I can continue to learn and progress at high levels.  Playing multiple sports my entire life has prepared me for the physical explosiveness of the game, the mental strength needed to remain focused throughout an entire round and the competitive drive to compete at the college level.
