I have been playing softball competitively since I was 12, and have been in love with it since day one. Softball has taught me how to be a leader, communicate with people, work hard for what I want, build friendships and how to deal with both failures and success. I have played varsity all three years of high school, and have been to state and placed top 4 every year. My Sophomore year I received All Conference honors, and my Junior year I received Honorable Mention. In school history, I rank in the top 15 for amount of home runs, rank first for putouts, and second for best fielding percentage.
Aside from athletics, I love school. I have always maintained a high GPA all throughout the years. I alway enjoy learning new things and being able to share my knowledge with others. My love and passion for journalism started at the age of 9, when I was given the opportunity to write for the Colorado Kids section of the Denver Post. I wrote for this program until I aged out at 14, and published close to 30 articles in that time span. Since then, I have always had a desire to have a career in the journalism field. This developed into a desire to major in Sports Broadcast Journalism/ Communications. I have been working hard throughout High School to take Advanced Placement classes in order to have a head start at the prerequisite credits.
Another passion of mine is working with children with special needs. I have a twin sister with Down Syndrome who sparked my love for this work. In high school, I helped run and coach the Unified Basketball program. This program pairs students with a disability with a typical peer/mentors and they play basketball games against other schools. I also participate and volunteer for Day of Champions, which is an event where students with special needs from high schools all over the district come together for a day to play games.
