Personal Statement
Hello. I'm Eli Rogers and this year, I'm a junior at North Oconee. I would love to play golf collegiately, but I am also looking for a quality education. I have been constantly improving in the classroom, as well as on the course. I believe that I have the talent to play golf at a major stage and would love to have the opportunity to play on this stage. I would be a leader to your team, as I am a extrovert and I use my words to be a leader. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and my golfing career.

- Best round of the year by far. The driver went cold, as I only hit 3 fairways all day. My short game was on fire all day and turned with a 40 on the front. I birded the 10th, a par 5, and held my own, being -2 on the back nine and +2 through 16 holes. I made a bad bogey on 17 and my driver came back to bite and hit my drive in the woods on 18, making double bogey and finishing with a 77. My team shot 302, our best score of the year up to that point. We finished 2nd and qualified for state, which is in Columbus in 2 weeks.

- Struggled in a course that I wasn't familiar with and couldn't make shots. Shot a 90 and I hope to learn from this setback and move forward. Team shot 323 and finished in 4th out of 11 teams.

- Most challenging test of the year. Started horribly, going 5-9-5 on the first 3 holes, as I started on hole #16, but turned around and shot 36 on the front nine. I started to become fatigued on my final 6 holes, as the round took over 5 hours. I ended up shooting 82 and our team shot 308 and finished 4th out of 18 teams.

- My best event of the year so far. I played well overall. I started slow, but came on the rest of the front nine and most of the back nine. I limped to the finish, bogeying my 16th and 17th holes and made a par on #9, my 18th hole, to shoot 80. Out team shot 313 and finished 3rd out of 18 teams.

- This tournament staged a bigger field, with 24 teams competing. I struggled and finished with an 84. Our team shot 324 and finished in 8th.

- First career HS event. Going against 12 teams from around the area/state. It was a great way to kick off the year! I started off with a successful 38 on the front nine, but started to crack/falter, with the putter going cold, and not being able to put the ball where I wanted to. I finished with an 82, a much higher score than I wanted. Our team shot a total of 321, finishing 2nd.

- Biggest tournament of the season. Have had success here, w/ 3 top 3 finishes in 5 years. Have an outside chance to win player of the year, but a very good chance I finish in the top 3 for the year standings. I didn't have the tournament I wanted, especially the first round with a 93 and a triple bogey start on #1 on Sunday. On the 3rd tee, I dramatically changed my swing and changed my round and shot 83.

- ActivitiesI was the sports writer for the Spartan Review at Athens Academy. I write lots about our successful football team, which the football coaches of your school might be recruiting some our players. I have about 13 articles in about 4 years of helping with the paper. I also am the announcer/analyst of our broadcasting of football games for North Oconee. I did this at Athens Academy for 2 years, and this is my first year at North Oconee.
