Personal Statement

My name is Justin Taparra and I am 5'10", 155 pounds.  My freshman year I came in 3rd overall for the JV team at my champion ship.  My sophomore year I took 2nd overall at the Varsity 2 level.  I also was ranked 31 in the state after playing 8 rounds at the Varsity 1 level with an average of just under 80.  I was voted for player of the year for division 2 my sophomore year.
I am a great leader and a hard worker.  My sophomore year I was the Varsity 2 co-captain.  At practice I always worked hard and inspired my teamates to do the same.  I know the difference between when it is the correct time to have fun and when it's time to work.  Even during the off season I practice hard every single day.  I try not to miss a single day unless I absolutely have to.  I want to be able to lead my team next season
I would really prefer to play college golf in California, Arizona, or maybe even Texas.  I would honestly be happy with anywhere on the western half of the country because of the nice weather and it's not too far from Hawaii.  I want to go to an area where the weather is similar to Hawaii.  My highest preference is southern California because they always have perfect weather.
I want to go to a school that has an urban to suburban setting.  I like the city because there's always a lot to do when I get bored and I'm not practicing at the range.   I would prefer a big school because I am so used to it.  The graduating classes at my school are between 450-500 but our campus takes up an entire mountain and we have to catch buses to our classes.  I also like to meet a lot of new people and having lots of opportunities to make friends.
In college I want to major in business management or finance and minor in golf management.  Education is an important part of college and I want to make sure I pick the one that will help me excel in life as much as possible.
For golf, it was always my dream to just play college golf because of how late I started playing golf.  Ever since my Varsity 2 season last year I have literally practiced every single day.  I stay late at the driving range and chipping green trying to improve my game.  I learned that the most important part about golf is to take what the course gives me as long as I know that I tried my best because there is nothing you can do to take back a bad shot.  That's kind of how I look at college.  I want to birdie every hole, I want to play for the best college in the nation.  But sometimes life doesn't give you those choices.  Even if I end up playing for a junior college I will be ok with it because I know that I worked as hard as I possibly could and there is nothing I could do about it.  My goal is to play as a freshman at any division 1 college but even if i make a D2 or D3 or NAIA or junior college, there is no doubt that I will always play my hardest and never take anything for granted.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
