Personal Statement

My name is Grant Klepitsch and I started playing golf when I was 8 years old and since then I have grown in love with the game. This year I will be competing on the Illinois Junior Golf Association in a number of tournaments. In addition to tournament play, I will be practicing and be honing my skills to become the best golfer I can be. I am a hard worker and I know that to be at the top of anything you have to work hard especially in golf. On the course, I always stay positive because I know that everyone has bad shots, and it's how you recover from those bad shots that make or breaks you. I always set goals for myself and try to keep things in perspective. My main goal collegiately is to play at the highest level that I can at a school that is highly competitive in golf and in academics. I currently hold a 3.8 GPA and take AP classes and honors classes to help prepare myself for the future.

I shot 2-under par 34 taking medalist for the match. This match was held at our home course for high school. The course is very tight in which you really have to plan out where you want to place your shots.

MAJGT Twin Cities Classic

This was a 2-day event held at the State courses for the IHSA. On the first day, I shot 79 at Weibring but had many putts lip out. On the second day, I shot an 83 at The Den at Fox Creek. At the Den, I had 3 holes that the majority of my shots came from otherwise I was making pars on a very tough golf course. This tournament was definitely not my best, however, it was a great experience to play the State courses and get excited about the school season. Stats: 79-83 for a total of 162 coming in solo 20th out of 35 players. Course Info- Weibring: Par 71/ 6,916 yds/ Slope and Rating 131/72.1 , The Den at Fox Creek: Par 72/ 6,926 yds/ Slope and Rating 133/73.3.

I shot a 79 coming in a tie for 7th out of 27. This event was awesome, I played really well and the opportunity to have shot lower was definitely in reach. I had many birdie chances and strategically played a very tough golf course. Par 72/ Slope: 136 Rating: 73.0/ 6,860 yards

I shot a 77 and came in a tie for 9th place out of 72 overall. I started on the back nine and shot a 1-over 37. the front 9 is definitely harder and came in with a 4-over 40. I played really well and even though my team didn't get through to state I qualified as an individual. Par 72/ Slope-126/ Rating-71.8/ Yardage-6,506.

I shot an 80 and came in 6th place out of 54. The course setup was very hard and only 5 kids broke 80. I played pretty well in tough conditions. Our team came in 3rd and we moved on to sectionals. Par 72/ Slope-125/ Rating- 70.9/ Yardage-6,293.

I shot a 77 coming in a tie for 14th place out of 63 guys. I played pretty well even though I did not have my best ball striking. The wind was a huge factor with 15 mph winds with gusts up to 25 mph. I was able to keep my mistakes at a minimum and kept it to bogeys and had two birdies. I was also selected all-conference which is the top 17-finishers. Par 72, Slope: 126/Rating: 71.2, Yardage: 6,526.
