Hello, my name is Arjun Jayant and I am a student at Horace Mann School in New York City. I have been playing golf since I was 6 years old and began competing in tournaments at age 10. I have developed a passion for the game as I play regularly with my father and on our golf vacations. I am constantly working to improve my game whether it is on the practice range or at home watching professional golf.
I enjoy competition so I participate in many sports including cross country, basketball, and tennis. Golf is my favorite sport because it is so strategic; selecting the right club, taking into account the course and weather conditions, and hitting the right type of shot can result in great success or a complete disaster. All sports have a very significant mental component but golf more so because it requires focus and concentration for four hours! I have learned so much about myself through this sport: to approach any round with confidence and to be able to recover from tough holes all while taking things in stride.
Despite the fact that golf is so time-consuming I am committed to getting excellent grades. I am an avid student and enjoy going to school because I love learning, spending time with my friends, and participating in my favorite extracurricular activities, the HM Steel Drums Band and the Mock Trial Club.
Similar to my high school experience, I am looking for a college with a rigorous academic institution and a strong golf team. I am a hard-worker and I am confident that I will be able to maintain good grades while being an asset to any golf program.
