Already two years into high school, I realize that I'm a different person than I was when I started. As well, I'll more than not likely be different two years from now, concluding high school and venturing off to college. Sophomore year has been especially monumental for me. My soccer team had its best season in a decade and by a wide margin. We had been winless for years previous until getting one win in the 2017 season when I was a freshmen. That taste of success would translate into determination for me as I went to work my way onto my school's varsity basketball and golf team. Basketball and soccer were incredibly fun and helped to craft my hardworking character, but golf season was where I felt my best. By the end of the season, my team had won the Beacon Invitational Tournament and I was one of three teammates to receive All-League Honors. What felt best was how I knew that I had nowhere to go but up. I played throughout the summer, worked my butt off during soccer and basketball season until it was again golf season. Thanks to my practice, I have improved greatly at golf and as the season concludes in the coming weeks, I'm excited to see how my hardworking attitude and performance this season pays off.
Sports are a massive part of my life, however I'd consider myself a well-rounded student and person. In my household, the values of persistence and education are preached. I may golf all afternoon for matches or just for practice, but when I get home I'm either off to Interact Club or hitting the books. Interact Club is a part of Rotary and focuses on bettering my community and providing money for local or national charities through events like car washes or 5K's. There's more to life than being a student or an athlete. My mom, dad, and two older brothers have instilled lessons and have been great examples for me throughout my life. Each of them have played a big role in who I am today: a light-hearted, funny, and kind person who's always looking for another friend. What makes me different are the beliefs I've been raised in and the experiences in my life. It's important to roll with the punches and when life has thrown me curveballs, I've done all I can to learn and better myself from the hardship and/or failure. Two years from now, I know I'll be better on and off the course. And as I begin the collegiate journey, I know who I am as a person will my find me the right home.
