I aspire to achieve great success academically and athletically at the collegiate level. I have always been strong student athlete and have enjoyed playing multiple sports growing up. As early as I can remember, I played golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, and basketball. Golf has always been my favorite. Through the game of golf, I have learned many important lessons -honesty, hard work, humility, perseverance, and teamwork. I have made great friends and my best memories. One of my favorite memories was when I was 13 and played in the US Kids European Tour in Scotland, with my dad as my caddie. I made good friends at the Optimist Championship at Trump National in Miami, Florida this past summer. Nothing compares to spending 4-5 hours on a golf course with another player from another part of the country while both of you are focused to play your best game. No other sport challenges me the way golf does, and no other sport brings out the best in me the way golf does.
So why should you recruit me as opposed to the hundreds of other great golfers applying to college? Let me tell you three reasons. First, I have always done very well in school, maintaining a 4.0 while taking Advanced Placement and Community College courses. I believe that I can handle college level work with the commitment to a competitive golf team, and do both very well. Second, I am a serious player who is well liked by my teachers, coaches, and peers. I am fun to be around even when I am working really hard to achieve the next goal. I am driven to do well, and I want others to do their best as well. I strive to surround myself with people I want to be like, people who will make me a better person and a better player. I want to do that on a college golf team, and I want to be that person for the other players on the team. Third, my game is still improving. As my tournaments results reflect, I am steadily improving my game, lowering my scores, and as a junior in high school, am starting to post my first under par rounds. I am really excited for the potential in my game and the opportunity to share that in college.
I may not have a perfect shot every time, but every time I will have a positive attitude, mental strength, and the grit to work harder than anyone else. My sense of humor keeps it all in perspective. My competitive nature and success motivate me to reach for the next level. I would be hugely grateful for the opportunity to play college golf.
