Personal Statement

I am a high school Senior and working toward my dream of playing competitive college golf. My Father introduced me to the game of golf shortly after I could walk and has been coaching me ever since. I love the game and love the challenge of getting better. Recently, I finished 1st All Conference helping our team advance to NCISAA 4A state playoff at Grandover Resort and Golf Club. We finished 3rd as a team and I was 3rd overall on the individual side, making the All-State team. I'm playing in bigger regional and national venues and working on my game so I can compete with the best. Thanks to some physical growth over the last year or more and some resulting necessary equipment changes, my tournament peers say I'm crushing it. I have spent the summer working on consistency and learning longer and stronger isn't always better. I am beginning to see some high 60s in my practice rounds and look forward to those numbers showing up in tournament golf very soon.

My greatest attributes are not golf-related, however. I would say my goal is to live a life of integrity and make my God, my school and my family proud. Striving for excellence in all areas is very important to me. I work hard at both academics and athletics. I'm a member of the National Honor Society and carry a 4.5 GPA. My Mother is the Guidance Counselor at my high school and has helped me understand the importance of pursuing academic excellence. As my only coach outside of high school, my Father has instilled a love for the game and that honesty is paramount. My parents have taught me that my word means everything and good character always breeds success.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • TGF 9th Annual ACC Southeastern Fall Junior Classic
  • 9/21/19 to 9/22/19
  • I finished T11 out of 66 high school boys from 6,774 with a 79-71. Lonnie Poole played very fair as always with a bit of wind. I missed a couple greens in the wrong spot and had too many 3 puts on the first day, but played solid tee to green both days hitting 28/36 greens. I got a lot more out of my round on the greens the second day with a 1 under 71.
  • Camp/Event
  • Jimmy Anderson Boys Invitational
  • 8/17/19 to 8/18/19
  • I shot 77-79 from 6621 yards par 72. The first day was cancelled due to rain, so we made up all 36 on the following day, which was a mental grind. I played really solid tee to green, but when it came to chipping and putting, I was less than stellar. Overall, I’m trending in the right direction as far as ball-striking goes, but putting still needs work.
  • Camp/Event
  • Rolling Hills Junior Club Championship
  • 8/10/19 to 8/11/19
  • I shot 75-75 from 6346 yards. Tee to green was solid, which is where I struggled in the past 2 tournaments. I was happy to see some recent adjustments pay off. Working on short game to get back to under par scores.
  • Camp/Event
  • 15th Dogwood State Junior Boys Championship
  • 7/30/19 to 8/01/19
  • I shot 89-88 from 6976 yards. This was probably the worst tournament I have ever played. I struggled mightily to hit the ball off the tee and combined it with awful putting, just a week I’m trying to put behind me.
  • Camp/Event
  • 70th Carolinas Junior Boys Championship
  • 7/23/19 to 7/25/19
  • I shot 84-79 from 6832 yards. I had an off week from tee to green, too many balls were outside the white stakes.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2019 High School Golf National Invitational
  • 6/27/19 to 6/28/19
  • 76-76 for 51 of 175
  • Camp/Event
  • 2019 Carolinas Junior PGA Championship
  • 6/18/19 to 6/19/19
  • 73-74 from 6,489
  • Camp/Event
  • 2019 7th Creed Boys' Junior Invitational
  • 5/25/19 to 5/26/19
  • 6400 yards, Par 70. I shot 77-78.
  • Camp/Event
  • 7th Creed Junior Boys Sectional Qualifying
  • 5/18/19 to 5/18/19
  • I shot even par 72 from 6535 yards to qualify for the Creed Junior finishing T-14 out of 90.
  • Camp/Event
  • 4A NCISAA State Championship
  • 5/13/19 to 5/14/19
  • I finished T3 out of 83 with a 71-76 147 total from 6600 yards making the All-State team. I played solid from tee to green with just a few putts sliding by on day 2. I was content with how I played, and because of how I finished, I got invited to the high school Nationals.
  • Camp/Event
  • MAC Conference Championship
  • 5/06/19 to 5/06/19
  • I shot -1 71 to win Medalist for the MAC Conference Championship and finished 1st All-Conference
  • Camp/Event
  • 7th North State High School Challenge
  • 3/22/19 to 3/23/19
  • I shot 79-74 from 6599 yards and finished T24 out of 100.
  • Camp/Event
  • 34th Annual Mid Pines Amateur
  • 8/18/18 to 8/19/18
  • I shot 76-72 148 two day total to finish 2nd out of 48 from 6600 yards.
  • Camp/Event
  • NCISAA 3A Boys State Championship
  • 5/14/18 to 5/15/18
  • 75-77. Finished T13th out of a field of 82 at this state playoff. Played solid both days, represented my school well. Will return next year with a goal of top 10.
