Emerson Grassbaugh '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi. My name is Emerson Grassbaugh. I am a pretty solid student and golfer. Although I do not know what career that I want to pursue, I do know that I would like to attend college. A lot of what I have learned in my golf career has been rooted in good character qualities.   I take pride in being known for patience, generosity, and resourcefulness.  I like making friends and learning from others, and I also like to think outside the box – take risks to succeed in ways which others would overlook or discard.  Some would say that I am also known for being bold but that is because I have confidence to take chances and make decisions that are thoughtful, right, and true – and this is on and off the golf course!  I am happiest on the golf course, but I like to spend time with my family and friends.  I believe in God and attend church.  When I am not golfing, I like to hang with my friends swimming, playing basketball, and occasional rounds of video games…which includes playing golf on the simulator in my basement.  I also have enjoyed hunting and fishing since I can remember, and recently have joined the high school trap shooting team.  I have learned a lot through many relationships and experiences, and that faith in goodness and positive thoughts will bring the best outcomes, even when you cannot see how.

Recently, I have had to learn a lot about humility.  I am a pretty hard worker but I had to admit to myself that I have not made a good effort of myself and been disciplined in my physical and mental routines for my golf game.  I have decided that I want more for myself, and I have committed to becoming more consistent in those efforts.  I know that I can succeed in college on the academic side and want to have the opportunity to play golf as well.  I am very excited about the opportunities of meeting new people to help me.  I look forward to the privilege of meeting coaches and learning about their programs to find a good fit for me.
