Hockey has been a staple in my life since I was a kid. Hours, days, weeks and months spent training to earn a spot on the best team I could. After playing for the Calgary Royals this past 5 years, most recently U18AAA, I have now set my sights on playing Junior A, currently with the La Ronge Ice Wolves Hockey Club. I plan to play Junior A while building my game and relationships with schools to keep stepping towards my goal of becoming a D1 NCAA athlete. I know I want to play hockey for as long as I can, along with achieving my academic goals, and NCAA is the perfect route for me. On the ice, I am a very strong board and puck battler with a defense-first mindset. I have very good vision of the ice and am a great passer. I have a good defensive stick and am a very efficient skater for fast transitions. I create dangerous offensive opportunities with my good awareness of potential plays all over the ice. I am skilled with finding lanes for getting shots through and am always ready as an option on the blueline. In the defensive zone, I am a deceptive skater and can create a strong breakout and counterattack. Along with overall quick gameplay and decision-making, I also have a physical side to my game for playing the body at the right time in the right place. On the penalty kill, I am very good with my stick and taking away passing lanes but also using my body to block shooting lanes. Over this past season, I have been working on my offensive game and trying to become the best two-way defenseman I can be. Trying to jump in rushes and push in lower into scoring positions was a focus for me this year. I am no stranger when it comes to sacrifice and commitment when it comes to something that I want to achieve. To continue developing and achieve my goals of playing at the highest level possible, I work consistently on and off the ice to perfect my strengths and improve in all areas. In both academics and athletics, I work hard and practice constantly to do the best I possibly can. Hockey is my passion, and I won't stop working until I have achieved all of my goals.
