Losing the championship my second year of JV as an alternate-captain really impacted me, not only as a player, but as a person as well. Losing the game made me want to get as best as I can and to push myself every shift as hard as I can to help make a difference., while also working on my leadership skills to help my team the next year. I first got into hockey when I was about 12 years old, this only increased my excitement to play after seeing my favorite team the Canucks lose the Stanley Cup in 2012. This has really inspired me to give everything I have when I'm on the ice. I've learned many things about myself, and gained many skills while playing this great sport. These include talking to people easier and learning to be a leader out there on the ice and being a role model to the younger players on the team.
My academic goal is to get into a college that I like and as well as being to able to peruse my academic and athletic goals as far as I can. The main thing that I've had to overcome, and still need to to this day is how late I started hockey. There are a lot of younger and more talented people than me, however, I'm still trying as hard as I can to get to their level and be able to compete with them on a level playing field. I believe that I posses great leadership qualities and willingness to work with others to achieve a common goal, as well as being able to comprehend in game situations.
