A higher education is important to me because it gives the opportunity to participate in courses that I may find interesting and will guide me to choose a career that I love to do. Attending college will provide me with problem solving skills, increase my growth and give me an experience of a lifetime. If I remain focus, be the best off and on the ice, I may have an opportunity to be recruited into college. I know I must be committed to hockey as well as my academics. Hockey will always play an important role in my life but with dedication to my academics will also give me growth I need to succeed in my lifetime dreams.
Personally, I value family. I come from a large family and enjoy our family traditions. Throughout the year, I love being a part of the many traditions that my parents have carried on since they were little. My favorite family traditions are during Christmas time. I like decorating my home with my dad while my mother makes hot chocolate to keep us warm as we string the outdoor lighting. Every year, my father and I go to the Christmas tree farm to chop down our unique 9-foot Christmas tree. Our extended family always has an annual Christmas party where we all exchange gifts and eat my Uncle Terry's homemade meatballs and Mother’s homemade lasagna. My mother always makes the Italian seven fish dinner on Christmas Eve for all that can attend. My family has many traditions that I will always treasure.
During my spare time, I enjoy playing baseball and football with my hometown friends. I joined the cross-country, track and football team at my high school to become active with school sports and meet new people from other areas in my county. With my hockey friends, I enjoy traveling to tournaments and spending time with them. I feel to make a solid team and have good chemistry, it is important that we as a team do things outside of hockey.
I like to take care of myself and stay in condition. I work out four to five days a week and eat healthy to maintain good strength. Finally, I am all about challenges and commitments. I once saw a video how small achievements can create big achievements. In the video it provided an example about making your bed first thing in the morning. I find this important because every day I make my bed, it prepares me for the next achievement. I know as I grow and learn, I will become stronger and effective at all obstacles that I encounter.
