Personal Statement

My goal as a student athlete is to give my best effort in everything I do; whether it be on the ice, in the classroom, or in the gym. This year so far, I have missed nineteen days of school for hockey trips, and have maintained a 4.64 weighted GPA, and 4.0 GPA unweighted. I love pushing myself on the ice and in the gym, because i know that what I am doing is helping me become a better athlete and person. I love doing extra activities when I can to further enhance myself as a player.

My journey in hockey has been a long battle, dealing with countless events that pushed me to face adversity. I started hockey at the age of nine, and was placed on the Bismarck squirt C team, and almost immediately became the team’s goalie. I fell in love with the position from the very beginning, and was very fortunate to have mentors around me to better me as a person and hockey player. A couple years after, I made my first “A” level team in peewees. I was very proud and worked to keep pushing myself to the next level. Unfortunately, the next year, after an off-season of hard work, I was chosen for the Bantam B1 team, even after being ranked the top goalie in the program. I worked everyday to prove the coaches wrong and make the top team the next year, though. My second year of bantams, I made the bantam AA team, and faced the top competition in North Dakota and Minnesota throughout the season. The challenges that came with the high level were very enjoyable, and we ended up winning the championship in the Bemidji Bantam AA tournament that season. This past summer, I decided to take my hockey dreams away from home, and moved to Omaha, Nebraska to play on the Omaha Mastery AAA 16u hockey team. It has been a very enjoyable and challenging year playing against the top 16 year olds in the country.

I am ready to continue to battle adversity, and push to the next level day after day. I look forward to speaking to you and seeing if I make a good fit to your program! Thank you for your consideration.
