My name is James Mangano, I am a sophomore at John Jay East Fishkill High School and my goal is to play college hockey at any level and put myself in the best position to prepare myself for life after school. Since starting hockey at the age of seven not only have I developed a love for the game and the satisfaction that comes with it, but it has also taught me how to work hard, made me lifelong friends, and taught me what it is like to experience being a part of something that is much bigger than yourself. I struggled immensely for the first few years of my competitive hockey career, learning the hard way that the only way I would be improve is through my own determination. Being undersized and underestimated has only led to my desire to improve and I am a firm believer in working hard to achieve what you desire. Carrying this mentality into every aspect of my life I have been able to excel academically and find a balance between school and sports. While I am aware that if I want to play at the next level there is a lot I would need to do to adjust to a faster, more physical game I am ready to do whatever it takes to get to that point. All I am asking is for an opportunity to be able to work even harder, and prepare myself to be successful.
