Devon Ward '24 Recruiting Profile

As a young kid, not knowing much about sports, I never really considered  playing hockey until my dad started playing as a 46 year old. As I continued to go watch my father play, the  more I gained understanding and love toward the sport of hockey. After my first game I was discouraged. My father stated, “It's not what happens to you, It's how you react to what happens to you”. I feel that statement changed my whole mindset of hockey. Hockey equates to life, it throws you all kinds of curveballs just like life does. Making my first travel team exemplified this. I had a decent season of improvement. The following year I thought I had a spot on the team but the new coach had thought otherwise. I was devastated but I remembered it's not what happens to you it how you react to what happens to you. Because of my failures that I had experienced led to my desire to play hockey at the highest level possible going forward. Since then I have continued and currently play tier II hockey with goals and ambitions of progressing to tier I.  My aspirations through all my success and failures in my career of hockey, I desire to continue to play at the highest level possible and one day play at the division 1 level.
