I’m Darius Clemons, a 6’7”, 205lbs junior lacrosse player at Adlai E. Stevenson High School. During my freshman year, I was the starting midfielder or defender on the JV team. I scored 15 goals and had numerous assists. As a defender, I was known for my big hits, forcing turnovers, and driving coast to coast. At the end of the season, I was brought up to play for the varsity team. I was introduced to lacrosse by a former D1 player from West Point. The more he taught me about the sport the more I started love it. Throughout my years of playing my love and passion for lacrosse grew stronger and so have my skills. During the summer between my sophomore and junior year I played for True North Stars as much first travel team and was named mvp for the team. During the summer season I was selected for the all star teams for the Top 100 showcase and the Trilogy Gettysburg tournament. In Gettysburg, I was brought up to play with one of the True state teams and scored a few goals.
Outside of lacrosse, I am also a Stevenson basketball player. I additionally help coach some of the younger (future Stevenson) players during summer camps. Beyond sports, I volunteer at a local food pantry by carrying groceries out to the car for the elderly and those with small children. I also volunteer at the local elementary and intermediate schools during year-end textbook collection and classroom clean-out. These opportunities really help me give back to a community that has supported me. Lastly, I try to be a positive role model for my younger siblings and some of the younger kids in my neighborhood/lacrosse programs. I encourage them to be the best they can be not only in sports but also in life.
After high school, I aspire to play lacrosse at the collegiate level. I’m currently exploring universities of all sizes to determine which is the best fit for me as I pursue my higher athletic and academic goals. I’m interested in majoring in a field that leverages my strengths in math and science (potentially engineering), yet I am still exploring my options. I’m looking forward to talking to you about the next chapter of my lacrosse career.
