There are countless sports and hobbies to enjoy in the world, and I love many. The thing I love to do most, however, is to play lacrosse. I have been playing lacrosse for as long as I can remember and hope to be a part of the sport for the rest of my life. There are many things I love about lacrosse. It has allowed me to create relationships with so many of my closest friends, it’s helped me grow and develop as a person, and it has shaped me into a better athlete and teammate.
Most of my friendships today are because of lacrosse. Playing with different teams and building relationships with my teammates over time has helped me become close with so many people throughout my life. Lacrosse has helped me socially this past year especially. Not being at school because of COVID, I didn’t get to meet any of the new students at Loyola. When I got onto the field in the fall during the shutdown, however, I got to meet many new kids and become friends with a lot of them that made this past COVID year much more bearable.
Lacrosse has helped me grow and develop as an overall person. I spend a lot of my time playing lacrosse and I am surrounded by amazing players and coaches. These players and coaches have been fantastic role models and I’ve learned so much from them. I have learned many lessons from my coaches, particularly. I have been taught how to be coachable and disciplined which are two especially important qualities to have as a young man.
Being a part of a lacrosse team and having great coaches has shaped me into the athlete I am as well. I’ve learned how to be a good teammate, most importantly. Being a good teammate means thinking about others and thinking about how your actions may affect the team. These lessons of how to be good teammate carry into the classroom and my interactions with my friends.
I enjoy playing lacrosse and everything about it. The lacrosse community has helped raise me since I was three years old. I hope I can always be a part of this sport that I love so much and one day I can give back to the community.
