My dream has been to play D1 or D2 lacrosse in college. We attend the NCAA playoffs and championship game each year through one of my club tournaments and it is where I see myself. I am only in 8th grade but below is a section of my essay to the Junior National Honor Society that says a lot about me:
I will make a good member of the Honor Society (your lacrosse team :-)) because I have shown scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship in everything I do.
For scholarship I have had the average of 95% or higher since the sixth grade. I have put in work and commitment and that has shown in my grades and my state tests keep getting better. I qualified to take Algebra I and Earth Science this year. You may not know this about me but taking tests makes me very nervous and I try to be prepared and ready to not be anxious and get better every year. Preparation is key.
I have played three sports every year since I was in kindergarten and travel sports and I never miss. I show up and give 110% of myself every day and practice during off time. I have been a leader not just in my sports but in most group projects and activities in school too. I try to always include everyone and be kind to others and a role model.
Because of all the sports and club sports I haven’t had much time for service. But it is important to my family, and we have done Sleep in Heavenly Peace and Samaritan Center at Christmas time as well as We Rise Above the Streets. We give to food panties and shelters, and it means a lot to my mom because she’s a nurse. We made blankets for the homeless with my hockey team and I always help with the younger kid’s with sports.
In terms of my character, I am polite, respectful, and have good manners at sports, school and at home. I try to be a leader and work hard because hard because that is how you get better. I care a lot for others and am always looking out for other people. I was taught to use my strength to care for people who might be struggling, and I hope I do that well at school and in sports.
My role in the community is based on good sportsmanship and helping others. I attend multiple school sports games and events. I am always cheering everyone on and being positive. I like to go to everything to show my support. I help one of my neighbors with her yard and things she needs around the house and help cut lawns. I hope that Honor Society helps me do more in the community and be more involved.
