In my 7th Grade Year, I was introduced to the wonderful game of lacrosse. I was attending a prep school on Long Island, known as The Stony Brook School. My first year there was the first year they had brought back their lacrosse program after a 10-year hiatus. However early in the season, our program was left with a dilemma. We did not have a goalie. Seeing no one else stepping up, I volunteered to be the goalie. Although this scared me at the time, I was excited to take part in this new adventure. We started off as a small JV team and soon grew to be a Varsity Level team competing in the Private School Atheltic Association (PSAA). My freshman year I was a 3rd-year starter and became a captain. I started putting in a lot of extra work and personal training in order to grow my skills and I began to see a difference in my skill level. Being a goalie was mentally tough but what this sport has taught me is that nothing is given to you. If you want to get results and get better you have to go out there and practice and work for it. What started with me stepping up as an inexperienced middle school lacrosse player soon turned into me being a freshmen starting captain. For my sophomore, junior, and senior year I hope to keep up the progression of self-improvement.
Academically I have maintained a 4.0 or above GPA since my 7th Grade year at The Stony Brook School. From 7th grade to the present day I have been apart of the Cum Laude Society at my school (top 10% of the grade) and have stayed on the Headmasters Honor Roll throughout that time. My goal is to keep my academics where they are and continue to stay top of my class and in the Cum Laude society as well as on Headmasters Honor Roll all throughout high school. In the future, I hope to serve in the military and have the opportunity to attend a service academy or a school with ROTC.
As an athlete, my greatest qualities are my determinations to get better, constant strive towards excellence, as well as my leadership qualities. Both on and off the field a constant characteristic, that I am told is my biggest strength, is my strong communication and leadership abilities which have grealty assisted me in the crease and in life. I hope that my combination of academics, athletics, and strong character show you that I am a strong fit for your team.
