In my 7 years of lacrosse experience I have been fortunate enough to play on several travel lacrosse teams. I have been coached by multiple coaches with different coaching styles and have learned from each of them. On my high school team I played an early role as a freshman, not as a starter but as a teammate there to get better myself and make others better by playing hard each drill, each play. As a freshman, on a returning championship team, I spent practice after practice going against the best attackmen in the state of North Carolina. It has allowed me to not only become a better lock down defensemen, but to understand the game in a way that has made me just as good off the ball. Facing great players, putting in the time to get bigger, faster and stronger lead to me being a starter my sophomore year.
As a defenseman, I take pride in playing tough both on and off the ball, playing tight man-to-man defense or sliding to assist. As the captain of my travel lacrosse teams, I take on the responsibility of directing the defense, making defensive adjustments if an opponent scores and playing a key role in leading both settled and unsettled clears. I am often the player who clears the ball over the mid-line and sparks a quick offense that leads to a goal on many occasions.
I recently dedicated my life to Christ. I strive to represent Christ on and off the field, in my life, my academics and my athletics. I am a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) at my school. I am looking for a school that challenges me both academically, physically and spiritually and provides me with an opportunity to make an impact in the community. My experiences and my abilities on the lacrosse and football fields have prepared me to work hard for what I want both academically and as a member of a team. Off the field I play a key role as a student liaison in the PTSA which allows me with the opportunity to provide a voice for almost 2,300 students in my school. I give back to the lacrosse club that I played for by being a coach to the kids just learning the game.
I hope to extend my lacrosse and academic career at an institution with an impressive academic reputation in Nursing or Pre-med and an established lacrosse program. My goal for college is to become a pediatric nurse or pediatric doctor. Finding a college or university that allows me to set that foundation and play lacrosse is the next step.
