In 8th grade, knowing that I would be going to a 4A high school that was known for their lacrosse team, I knew that I would need to put a lot of time and work in to allow me to make the varsity team as a freshman. Cardinal Gibbons had won 3 state championships in a row, so I knew that it wasn't going to be easy to make this team. I made sure to put the work in; constantly hitting the wall, working out, shooting on net, etc. I made varsity my freshman year, although got minimal playing time. However, it gave me motivation to work harder to gain more time on the field. Sophomore year, I became a starter and led the team with the most points throughout the season. After working hard with my coaches and teammates, we began to work better together and because of this, we were able to win the North Carolina State Championship for the 2019 season.
It has always been my dream to play lacrosse at the next level, and I believe that I am prepared. I understand that it is a lot of hard work and know that I have to continue to work hard and will make sure to always put in extra effort off the field and in the classroom. I believe that the work ethic, sacrifice, and leadership that I have gained from my high school career has prepared me for upcoming events in my life.
