My high school level of rowing has been filled with much joy and excitement through winning races, excelling in my coxswain position, and helping the rowers to excel in their position. My freshman year, I coxed the first freshman boat all throughout fall and spring, taking my 8 guys to New York States and getting first scholastically, then traveling to Tennessee for the Nationals. After these 3 years of rowing, I realized that there is so much more to rowing than getting in the boat. I have grown the best brothers over the past 3 years who have helped me through my toughest times, and I realized that the bond I have formed with these guys in my boat is unmatched.
My goal in my collegiate career is to be the best role model for my peers and get the most out of my experience, including academics and social life. I feel I am a good candidate for your team because I know I will bring positive spirits and a role model-like attitude to the team, become a leader on the team, and make the team the best I can with my impact. I am different from other recruits because I will come with an "always want to work" attitude and always have an open mind for criticism and the drive to want to get better. I also believe I am a better fit than other recruits because I feel I can not only be a good coxswain for the team but a good teammate off the team and make good friends with my other teammates and form a connection that can benefit greatly on and off the water.
