Hello, my name is Xander Jakeway and I am a Class of 2023 ECNL Goalkeeper.
In school, I am a very hard working and determined student. I challenge myself by taking honors and AP classes. My current GPA is 4.7.
As a person, I try to see the best in myself and in others. I am a natural born leader as I was in an Auxiliary of the Air Force, Civil Air Patrol (CAP), for three years. Over the course of those three years, I developed a sense of urgency, a better understanding of what being a leader means, how to be an effective leader, and how important character and integrity are. With honor and integrity at the forefront of my CAP experience, I achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant as the Cadet Commander of my squadron and earned multiple awards in that leadership role. CAP has taught me so much as a leader and as a person. I learned to strive to not only make myself better, but to also encourage others to better themselves as well as building my integrity and selflessness.
As a goalkeeper, I use my leadership skills, athleticism, ability to see the entire field, strong soccer IQ, and a commanding voice while on the pitch whether at practice, conditioning, team meetings, or in a game setting. I am always looking to improve my skills, and attend camps and training sessions outside of my own club to learn more, better my technique, and to improve my overall mental strategy and performance. This proves that I am a very coachable athlete and I am willing to hear constructive criticism to improve my skills and benefit the team.
It is my goal to continue to excel both in the classroom and on the field in college.
