My name is Nate Langlois and I’m currently a junior at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Maryland.
My goal is to play collegiate soccer in a program where I can contribute on and off the field. As I look at the end of high school I know I am not done with soccer. I’m seeking an opportunity to continue to play the sport I love at an institution that will support and encourage me academically. I have varied academic interests that I look forward to exploring in college as I plan a rewarding and challenging career.
I have played club soccer for Potomac Soccer Association since I was seven. Although the Washington DC area is a rich club soccer environment I felt a strong loyalty to the club that started me off on my club career. I have benefitted from consistent coaches who have been invested in my development including my current coach, Jeremy Spoales.
I have been on the 05 Blue team since the age group split and am excited to be playing in the National League P.R.O. this season. I know this higher level of competition will further prepare me to play at a high level in college. We have worked hard as a team and finished the season ranked #2 nationally and #1 in Maryland. We are planning on an even more successful season this year.
I believe I have a lot of strengths to bring to a college program. Coach Spoales consistently highlights my high soccer IQ. I love soccer and have made a point to study the game. If I’m not playing, I’m watching, listening and learning from others. I am also committed to fitness and have the ability to maintain pace throughout a full match. I am able to get up the field to provide support offensively and recover for defense with minimal rest. Additionally, I am an adaptable, flexible player. Although I am a natural outside back, I am comfortable stepping into a midfield role when my team needs it. I transition easily between the two positions and am happy to support my team in whichever role is needed. I take feedback well and look to improve my game through training and coaching.
Academically I am an honor roll student taking multiple honors, AP, Pre-AP/IB classes each year. I have broad academic interests and continue to explore areas of study including economics and sociology this year. I have completed over sixty community service hours mostly through my volunteer work with the Montgomery County Therapeutic Recreation Department. I look forward to continuing my work with the special needs community this year by volunteering with therapeutic soccer and futsal.
Overall, as a well rounded individual (school, sports, social) I feel confident I would be a great fit for many college programs.
