Hi my name is Alex Allel. I started playing soccer at the age of 3 with the only local team that would accept a 3 year old, and since then, I have been devoted to this sport. Over the years I taught myself most of what I know by watching other people and players. At 11 years old, I additionally joined a travel team with Little Neck Soccer Club and juggled practicing and fully playing fall and spring seasons on both teams for the next three years. At the age of 13, I led my local team, St. Kevin’s, to win the CYO championship, and finished with 2 goals and 2 assists in just the championship game. I continue to play with Little Neck Soccer Club as a center or defensive midfielder. In August 2019 I tried out and was accepted to play on my high school team at Saint Francis Preparatory High School. One of my biggest strengths is my vision and the playmaking ability of my passes because I like to always serve my teammates with perfect passes and plays to give them the best chance to score or continue to make another good play. That is also the reason I take most set pieces for my teams. Defensively I like to use my physical build as an advantage as I am 6’0 tall and able to take the ball away from many players. But one of my best qualities is that I pick things up quickly and am very good with criticism. I am always eager to listen to my coaches’ feedback on how to improve how I play. But with being smart technically on the field, I also take my smarts into the classroom. Right now I currently have a 4.0 GPA and have maintained over a 95 average every quarter of the year, placing me on the Principal’s List. My goal is to continue to maintain these grades and average to obtain the best possible college offer. Outside of school I like to maintain myself physically active and try new things such as other sports like basketball and football. I believe that as an avid chess player in which I have won awards at my summer camp, I have learned how to strategize well both on and off the field. This summer camp also allowed me to dive deeper into nature as I took many classes such as organic gardening where we would learn to garden, harvest and cook. I also was in nature, ecology and design where I learned much about nature, animals and everything living, other than humans. Additionally, I believe that community service is also important and so I have been an active volunteer at my church for the past six years. I plan to attend a new soccer academy this year and continue advancing on my high school team.
