Dear coaches,
My name is Demetri Xidias, I attended St. Francis Prep High School in Bayside New York and I am currently attending Arizona State University Prep Digital while I am in Germany training in the International Soccer Academy Shalke '04 integrated development program. I am both an aspiring college and professional soccer athlete. I have been playing soccer since I was 5 years old and it is my passion. I played as a Right Fullback and/or Center Back for Metropolitan Oval Academy in NY and for my high school Junior Varsity team I played Center- back and Striker.
As a high school Freshman I began the season on the Junior Varsity B team and my coach Brandon Silva moved me up to Junior Varsity A to play in the Brooklyn Queens league. During the playoffs coach Silva placed me as a Striker because of my speed and control of the ball. Even though this was a new position for me, I knew with some focus and hard work I would manage to excel. In the final game for the championship I scored the golden goal in double overtime with only 3 mins left before penalties. I played my hardest til the end and we won the Intersectional Championship 2019 against our school’s arch rivals ArchBishop Molloy! It is a moment and a feeling I will never forget and one that will push me even more to work my hardest to achieve these amazing soccer moments in my career. During our Award Dinner Ceremony to celebrate our successful soccer season I was grateful to have received the Coach's Award for my work ethic, working hard in every single practice for being coachable, being fluid on the field in terms of positions, for my display of leadership, positivity and for the encouragement to my teammates to not give up and win the game.
As a sophomore, in the 2020 High School shortened soccer season I played Center-Back and was elected JV Team Captain by my coach and worked hard towards the goal to help lead the team to try to win the Intersectional Championship again this year. Even though this season was short because of COVID, we played well and we won the Brooklyn Queens league again securing a spot for the Intersectional Championship final game where we ended up winning second place. This is my second Brooklyn Queens League win and third consecutive win for St. Francis Prep.
For my junior year in high school, I took a leave of absence from St. Francis Prep and I am taking classes at Arizona State University Prep Digital because I have been accepted to the International Center of European Football Residency Program (ICEF) in France. This is an experience of a lifetime to train and play against high level clubs.
For my senior year in high school, I was accepted to International Soccer Academy Shalke '04 integrated development program in German. I am grateful for the opportunity to focus and develop my skills with the intense training that German soccer offers.
My best qualities as a soccer player is my speed, my knowledge of the game, my defensive skills, my eye for a pass, my leadership both on and off the pitch, and my work ethic in and out of training.
In addition to soccer, for the first time I tried out for my High School track team in order to keep fit and learn running technique which will help me on the field. The events that I compete in are the 55m (best 7.2 secs) , 200m ( best 24.3 secs) , 400m (54.7 secs), 4x200m, and the 4x400m. My results for the 2019/2020 Indoor season;
Not only am I a 100% dedicated athlete, I am also a dedicated student always working hard to keep a high grade point average throughout the school year. The subjects that interest me the most are Global History and Science. This year I was enrolled in 2 honors classes and a college course and I am proud to report in my Junior year that a 4.0 GPA earning a placement in Principal's List. In addition to my schooling I am also a member and involved in the Greek Orthodox Youth Organization, where I volunteer for the Thanksgiving Food Drive and Midnight runs to bring food and essentials to those in need.
This is a very exciting time in my life and I am looking forward to finding a University/Academy where I can continue to play and develop in the sport that I love while getting a great education. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Demetri Xidias
