The game of soccer taught me some great life lessons including what it means to be a leader and a good teammate. I have also learned sportsmanship, dedication, compassion and empathy. One example is during a game against a rival team, one of the opposing players developed a leg cramp. Without thinking twice, I ran over and assisted him stretching his leg to stop the cramping. The game took a back seat to help a fellow soccer player.
As a player, I was taught to learn and have experience playing every position on the field. Combined with my athleticism, this versatility has proven to be an asset as a player. During the 2019 East Region ODP camp, I started the camp playing center back. Halfway through the camp, the East Region head coach asked me to convert to a right back. I earned an invitation to the ODP National Camp in Jan 2020 and Jan 2022 as a right back. These qualities would make me a good candidate for a college soccer team as I can be called upon at any moment to play any position on the field as needed.
Academically, I am interested in Physical Education, Exercise Science and Athletic Training. I know that I will apply the lessons learned through the game of soccer towards my college studies and beyond.
