Ethan DeSilva '17 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coaches, my name is Ethan DeSilva and I am an academically-strong Senior (top 4%) currently playing soccer for South Mecklenburg High School and Charlotte United Futbol Club.

After my senior year in which we finished 23-3-1 and lost in the western NC 4A semi-finals I was recognized on a number of levels.  Aside from being chosen as a team Captain I also lead NC 4A in assists with a school record 31 to go along with 16 goals.  Post season I was named to the NC 4A All-State Team as well as the All-Region and All-Conference (each for the third time).  At the Greater Charlotte Soccer Gala I also won the regions Defender of the Year Award. Most recently I was chosen as one of 16 players to represent Western NC in the 2017 East-West All-Star game.

 In 2015, my Junior year,  my high school team finished 23-0-2 and wrapped up the season by winning the NC 4A State Championship (ranked 2nd in the nation by MaxPreps and 5^th in the US by TopDrawer)! As a junior playing strictly at right back this season, I scored 10 goals and 16 assists: I was the top scoring pure defender in NC 4A.  At the conclusion of the 2015 season I was again named All-Conference and All-Region as well as being named to the Charlotte Observer All-Observer team. During the club season played attacking outside back, making an impact on defense as well as offense.

During my sophomore year as a varsity starter, I led my school team in Assists and was named 1st Team All-Conference and All-Region (primarily playing outside mid).  I helped guide the team to a winning record and a state playoff birth. We advanced to the quarterfinals to lose a heartbreaker to the #1 team in the state. Throughout the season I recorded 3 goals and led the team with 12 assists. After the season I was honored to be named to the all conference team and the only sophomore named to the all region team.  

I am a fierce competitor and I hate to lose. I would love the opportunity to attend a college where I could make an impact on and off the field, and ultimately help win games. Other qualities I look for in a college include a high quality educational system.  I am interested in a career in engineering, and my education comes first. I give 110% to everything I do and soccer is no different.
