I started swimming in 2015, when I was 13 years old, because of pressure from my mom who thought it would be a good idea for me to take up swimming since I had not enjoyed any of the sports I had previously participated in. I swam for Karishim Swim Club at the JCC in Newton, Massachusetts from 2015 until 2018. When I first began swimming, I was not extraordinarily motivated or dedicated to the sport and instead saw it as a way to pass time. When I started eighth grade in 2016, I began to be more dedicated and motivated with my swimming and began to attend every practice and every meet available to me, which has brought me to where I am today.
As a sport, I really enjoy swimming because its success is dependent on the swimmer’s work ethic. It is heavily dependent on the athlete’s dedication and hard work. I want to continue swimming in college because I want to continue growing and progressing as a swimmer. I believe this growth and progression will also extend into my daily life. My goals for swimming would be to reach my maximum potential in the sport as well as make lasting relationships and memories with my swim team. I believe that I am a hard worker and a team player as I am willing to prioritize the team’s interest before my own.
