Ever since I first began swimming I worked as hard as I could, because I wanted to be fast. No one wants to lose a race or be at the back of a lane in practice, and this is especially true for me. Everyday I push myself to my limits, my goal in practice is to leave the pool a different person than I was in when I dove in. College swimming would allow me to keep on pursuing that goal. As a swimmer in college I will be given the opportunity to strive to greater heights. There will be a whole new team to support me and push me beyond my limits, such as the simmers beside me with similar goals and the coaches who wake up every day to make our goals and dreams reality.
Nevertheless, I want to continue my studies at a great school. A higher education has always been a focus within my family; my parents always told me to make sure I kept up with my studies and kept my grades as high as I could. I took this to heart, and I have done my best to do so, even going beyond and taking as many hard courses as I could to prepare for college. Now my time in high school is nearly up, but that will not stop me from going further to develop the knowledge and skills I need for my future.
Throughout my years of swimming I’ve had to make many sacrifices, but those don’t compare to the sacrifices that the people around me have had to make to get me to where I am today. I want to make sure that the time my coaches have put into me was all worth it. Day in and day out my coaches work to make me better, they write up different sets every day and take into account exactly what I need to work on whether it’s speed, endurance, or general technique changes and implement those goals into my workouts. Then, I have come to depend upon all my teammates who cheer me on and push me to my limits, during every practice and race. Without them, I would not be able to get anywhere, as I am extremely competitive. Finally, my parents who have supported me through all the ups and downs to make sure I can achieve my goals. Being a part of a college swim team is another step in achieving my goal to make them proud.
