Ethan Heasley '20 Recruiting Profile

    My swimming career began at the age of 8 when I joined the Hillsboro Swim Team.  As I grew older, I enjoyed swimming more and more, which ultimately made me transfer from a multi-sport young kid, to a teenager with high goals for long term swimming. Some of my most recent achievements include:

• Attending the October 2017 National Select Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
• Competing at the 2017 US Open and Summer Junior Nationals in East Meadow, NY. 
• Winning 5 events at the March 2018 Sectional meet in Federal Way, WA, setting meet records in the 500 and 1000 free. 
• Participating in the May 2018 USA Swimming Open Water National Championships 10k as well as the Junior National Championships 7.5k in Tempe, AZ.  I placed 2nd in the 7.5k, earning a trip to the World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships.

In college, I hope to assist my team in scoring high at NCAA's, winning multiple individual titles, and even possibly making a U.S Olympic or World Championship team. I understand that this requires hard work, dedication, patience, and ultimately a strong love for the sport if I want to come even close to these goals. While I have things I need to improve on, I believe I exhibit these characteristics at home on a daily basis and I am prepared to continue that through the rest of my swimming career.
