Matt Pietsch '22 Recruiting Profile

Never back down from a challenge, and never, ever, ever, give up.  This statement defines who I am as a person, as a student, and as an athlete.  I am 5’10 and weigh 150 lbs. and I’m still one of the smaller athletes on my team.  Growing up I was usually the smallest athlete on any team I was on and I didn’t start my growth spurt until the last two years.  As a result, I’ve learned that if I was going to make it in sports, I had to work harder than the rest of the athletes to be able to compete with athletes that were much bigger than I am.

Swimming is my passion and the sport that I would like to continue competing in through college.   I am a multi-sport athlete and always have been.  Once I reached high school I narrowed my sports down to swimming, baseball and tennis.  When I compete, I accept nothing less than my best effort.  As a result, I am a four time State Champion with two State records. 

My goals academically include graduating at the top of my High School class and exceling in many different AP and advanced classes.   In the pool, my goal is to help my team win a High School State Championship by winning both of my individual events and contribute to winning two relays.

 After high school I’d like to attend college to study Business and I’d like to swim for a collegiate team that is competitive within its conference and regularly competes for conference and national titles.
