I was first introduced to tennis by my father at the age of five. Tennis became my passion in life and it formed a strong bond between my father and I. As I grew older, I began to practice every day and increase the difficulty of my workouts. The intensity and competition of the sport is what keeps me playing. I have always prioritized finishing my school work early in order to start practicing as soon as possible. Academics has always been a top priority for me because I want to pursue a career in the medical field. Being a high academic achiever allowed me to join the National Honor Society (NHS) and be an honor roll student during my high school career. Being able to keep up in school while also practicing tennis every day is something that I have grown accustomed to over the years.
Once I get on the tennis court, I am always giving my 100% effort and looking for improvement. Many people know me for my aggressive playstyle and tremendous speed. My favorite playstyle is serve and volley to quickly get to the net and shut down my opponent. My determination is also a great trait about myself. I run for every ball even if it seems out of reach or lost. I never want to give my opponent points without a fight.
I believe I am a good candidate to be on a college team because I am a team player. Many think of tennis as an individual sport and play for themselves but I believe in playing for the team. During my high school career, I was the captain of my club and varsity tennis team. Every practice I would stay longer than most people because some of my teammates were having trouble. Whether they wanted to rally or fix their stroke, I would always be there to help them.
My goal in life is to keep playing tennis and take it as far as I can go. The connections, rivalries, and excitement that tennis has given me allowed me to become who I am today. I want to play tennis in college because I want to take it to the next level. I desire to face new competition and challenges.
