One of my greatest achievements came in my high school career at Fordham Prep. As a freshman I made my varsity tennis team. I lost to our #1 singles player in ladder matches 8-1, and had to play #2 singles my whole first year. I was nevertheless excited as we won the CHSAA (NYC Catholic league championship). I was happy about the championship but determined to play #1 singles next season. The following spring it came down to the two of us again for #1 singles and I won 6-1 to take over the #1 singles spot. Our team once again went on to win the CHSAA championship and posted an undefeated record! Along the way that sophomore season we had two 3-2 team scores that came down to me winning 3rd set tiebreak matches to help our team pull out close wins. Unfortunately I wasn't able play my junior season because of Covid-19. Covid-19 is the only thing in my opinion that could stop me from winning the CHSAA championship all 4 years of my high school tennis career.
Even as one of the top singles players I have enjoyed the team spirit at Fordham Prep. I am always the one getting the team hyped up on the bus before matches and cheering on every one of our singles and doubles players while matches are played. I am a positive leader that will work hard to help my team succeed. I know what it's like to win a team championship and would love to repeat that experience in college.
