My name is Lukas Pico and I am part of the 2023 graduating class at Northland Preparatory Academy in Flagstaff, Az. I am incredibly interested in running in a collegiate Track & Field program. I am looking to pursue my love for learning beyond the high school level, and hope to continue my athletic career as well.
I run track as a hurdler and a high jumper as my primary events. In 2021 I was a part of the State Championship team and placed 4th in the 110m High Hurdles and 3rd in the 300m Hurdles at the State Championship meet. My junior and senior seasons look very promising. This past winter I continued playing basketball to help improve my sprinting and jumping and further prepare me for my upcoming track season. I am confident I have the ability to lower my times significantly for the 2022 and 2023 outdoor seasons. Throughout the 2022 track season, I have continued to perform with strong times in the 110m High Hurdles especially, and I strongly believe I can reduce my times even more.
I currently have an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and a weighted GPA of 4.2, and I have taken AP, honors, and dual-enrollment throughout highschool. I scored a 27 on the ACT and am taking the SAT on May 7th. I also participate in Student Council and plan to be the senior class president as well as a member of the National Honor Society. Throughout highschool I have explored my interests in business and medicine and plan to take a major that incorporates business or medicine. I am open to attending college anywhere in the United States, and I would also love to be able to travel abroad or take a year abroad. I value the outdoors and hope to continue my love for outdoor activities and preservation of the outdoors into my years in college. My goals are to become part of a team and community that will allow me to grow as a person and become the best young adult I can be.
