Tyler Carreon '20 Recruiting Profile

Family is important to me and my greatest influence to pursue my track career came from my grandparents. They saw in me something that at the time I didn’t see in myself, and through their eyes I was inspired to pursue my abilities and started my running journey. I became interested in track my sophomore year of high school through friends and family who recommended that it would be something I would be good at. My greatest growth came between my sophomore and junior season.  Running helped me gain a new perspective during a difficult time in my life, it fueled my drive, kept me focused and gave me the ability to believe in myself.  Training on and off season gave me the push I needed to grow as a man and as an athlete, leading to me to become a solid runner my junior year.

In my 2 years of being a track athlete, my proudest moments came when I shaved 6 seconds off my 400m in less than a year and my 4x400m relay team broke the school record and got 3^rd overall in state among all the divisions. Having my team behind me made me want to be the best I could be because that’s what they needed me to be. This taught me leadership and team building skills. It was during this season of running that I captured the vision that if I work hard and get faster, it not only benefits me, but my team as well. I am looking for a college athletic program that will maximize my skill and drive and help me and my team excel to greater achievements. I also want a college that will be a good fit for me academically even though I am still uncertain on what I want to pursue as a career.  I am excited to start the journey of discovering myself and my abilities on and off the track! I believe I have what it takes to be on a strong collegiate team not just because I believe God made me to run but because I am someone who will lead by example and live my life with honor.
