At college I want to be an Aeronautical Engineering student who runs with a team. Whilst I have been running for a long time, competing in 5ks with my family since 4th grade, it was a long conversation with ultrarunner friends that finally persuaded me to start running at high school in the second half of my freshman year. I discovered that I love the friendship that comes from long training runs and hard workouts with my team. I also found that I really love to race. I have taken that love of training and competing and run with it to becoming a Varsity member of the team as a Sophomore, winning MVP awards both Sophomore and Junior years, and becoming the fastest runner on the team and co-captain as a Junior. I plan on continuing my journey as I grow faster and become a stronger leader.
I juggle my running commitments with a challenging academic load and a range of extra curricular activities mostly centered around Engineering (such as my volunteer work with the Poway Midland Railroad and working towards my private pilots license), helping my local community (such as mentoring a middle school Science Olympiad Team and multiple mission trips in San Diego and Los Angeles) and developing my leadership skills (such as chairing my church’s Youth Development Committee and competing on my school’s Varsity Academic League Team).
