My name is Maximilian Barrios, and I am a student at Von Steuben High School. I have been running cross-country and track only since my freshman year. Initially, I played soccer and joined track because I thought it would be fun, and because they are on different seasons. I then began to love track more than soccer, and I focused more on track and running. Throughout my experiences, running has taught me that I can go way beyond what I believe I can do; running showed me what it means to push myself. Staying focused and consistent is very important, but it can also be very time consuming. Running competitively has also taught me how to manage my time more efficiently, not only with athletics, but also in the classroom. I keep my GPA above 3.0, and it is a goal of mine to keep it that way throughout my junior and senior years. Even with the workload of all honors classes, I am still able to do well in school, get enough sleep, and perform well in my running. I look forward to improve my running times while I am in high school, and I am excited to run at the college level.
