I joined the track and field team at Half Hollow Hills High School West my freshman year. It was with persuasion that I took a serious interest in track. One of my friends saw that I had potential, and that I could prosper through my experience as an athlete and person. However, once I actually joined the team, I realized that I really enjoy this feeling of winning, releasing my stress while conquering any obstacles that may come my way. I learned more about myself, and others. Although the experiences of my high school career has impacted me greatly, Track and Field has had an enormous impact in my life as a whole. I have always enjoyed watching the track and field athletes of the Olympics and other competitions, and had decided that I was going to work as hard as I could to get there. Track has made me stronger, physically and mentally. It has taught me life lessons like without failure, there is no room for improvement. Also it has taught me that, winning a race is not always guaranteed, but can be achieved through hard work. I truly believe nothing comes easy in life, success is achieved though failure. Track and Field prepared me for failure for success, for disappointment. It showed me that even when I am successful, or even after failure, there is still the future to improve and do better. It thought me sportsmanship, and teamwork and pushes me to my best abilities.
