As a freshman, I didn’t understand why I should care about cross country; I was running 5k times from 23:00 to 26:00. I took the winter off and was unable to run outdoor track due to my positive COVID test. However, in my sophomore year I had a new teammate who helped me run times under 22:00. I ran indoor track until an injury took me out of sports for two months. I also ran outdoor track and my 5k improved significantly by the summer. I ran a few 5ks in the summer, times ranging from 20:09 to 21:50. During my junior season my best 5k is 18:42.8. I explained this all in great detail because I want to showcase the hard work and dedication I have put into improving myself as a runner over the last year. I am hoping to run times under 17:00 by the end of my senior season.
