My goals and aspirations as a collegiate student athlete is to challenge myself and find success academically and athletically at the highest level. I am a good candidate for a team because I am hardworking, knowledgeable, and coachable. I learn quickly and listen to the guidance and advice from my coaches and the more experienced athletes on the team. I continually strive to be the best version of myself through hard work, and I have learned about physical and mental toughness through these efforts. I feel that I am different from other athletes because of how I have managed to maintain high academic success with athletic success. In school, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA, taking the hardest classes, while being a three season varsity athlete as a freshman and a sophomore. Although I have been on my high school’s varsity lacrosse team since my freshman year, I have chosen to pursue distance running in college. This was hard for many to understand, but is the right choice for me. There is a level of support and camaraderie among cross country athletes that is unmatched. At the end of the day, the right choice is always the choice that makes you happy. For me, that is distance running.
