Going into High school I had no intentions of running track until my father told me to try out something new. I had ran track in elementary school but very uncompetitively, did not train, I just did it for fun. Going into the first practice of that summer going into freshman year, I was nervous but filled with excitement to try and accomplish something new. I met my coaches then met the older guys on the team. At the time there goal was to be an All-American DMR, later in the indoor season they had accomplished that. Seeing the older guys accomplish this my freshman realized that there is a lot more to this sport then just running, there is a big mental factor, and that factor is wanting to win. I decided to take the sport seriously and train hard. Sophomore year I was nominated team captain. As thing started to fall together training for that indoor and outdoor season I realized that there are no limits. I was the most nonathletic kid as a freshman and I had completely changed that, I changed my body with the weight room, running every rep harder, and having a better mentality. Junior year is went it really came together. I was trained hard enough to gain the spot on the 4 by 400 meter relay, we ended up running a time of 3:24.8 by the end of the indoor season. Our outdoor season was taken away from us due to corona. As of now I am still rapidly progressing, I took nothing and turned it into something by putting my mind to it and working hard. I still have one more year ahead of me and I'm excited to see what it's going to bring me.
