Learning has always been the top priority for me as a student-athlete. The practice itself acknowledges that there is room to grow and perfect a craft, no matter how proficient you are. To master learning, then, is a cyclical process that I have dedicated myself to in becoming a well-informed and capable athlete. Over the course of the pandemic, I have made the active decision to teach myself and thrive in spite of these circumstances. Despite being unable to run from an injury from April through July, I used the opportunity to teach myself the fundamentals of training for cross country and distance running as a whole. Circumstances made it easy to believe that PRing or succeeding was impossible, but I persisted to many great achievements in this season alone. Earning a PR of 16:50 and the title of an NCHSAA Regional Champion is gratifying, but I acknowledge there is more that I have yet to understand.

Thus, I search for a program that will teach me more than what I already know and values the desire to learn as a greater marker for potential than their current performance.
